Queen Victoria was born at Kensington Palace on 24 May 1819, the only child of Edward, Duke of Kent, and Victoria Mary Louisa of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld. Her father was a son of King George III and Queen Charlotte; her mother was a daughter of Francis Frederick, Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld. She reigned from 1837 and died at Osborne House on the Isle of Wight on 22 January 1901, at 81.
